Medicinal plants were once the basis for most pharmaceuticals in the United States. Not only did they provide cures, but these plants were of considerable economic importance to the region. Ginseng harvests remain extremely valuable in many Appalachian communities. In this presentation, Dr. Randi Pokladnik will discuss the cultivation and history of some of Appalachia’s most intriguing plants.
