The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will host two community recycling events during the month of March at its Main Library in New Philadelphia.
The first will be a Drive-Thru Shred event on Saturday, March 18th from 11AM-1PM, and the second will be a drive thru Electronic, e-Waste and Computer recycling event on Saturday, March 25 from 10AM - 2PM.
Both events will take place at the Main Library in the public parking lot off of North Broadway in New Philadelphia. The recycling events are in partnership with Go Shred and eCycle Solutions of Ohio.
“This is a great time to get a jump start on spring cleaning,” said Public Relations Associate Megan Kovalaske-Grimm. “All unwanted paper files will be securely destroyed and broken or outdated electronic items will be disposed of in an environmentally-friendly way.”
There will be a limit of three bank boxes for the shred event and no business items will be accepted. Library staff will be on hand to assist customers in unloading their materials to be safely shredded.
According to Grimm there is no limit on the number of items a person can recycle during the e-waste event. There is, however a $10 charge applied to monitors and televisions with glass tubes. eCycle will not accept biohazardous equipment, alkaline batteries, light bulbs, or fluorescent tubes.
Examples of accepted items include but are not limited to: computers, printers, scanners, modems. routers, cell phones, VCRs, DVD players, game consoles, stereo/audio equipment, copiers, fax machines, lead acid batteries, lithium ion batteries, LCD/Plasma screens, Christmas lights, ballasts, vacuum, carpet cleaners, sweepers, and household appliances;
