Service Response #2: Current Topics & Titles

Library users will have timely access to materials and programs of current interest. Materials will be available in a variety of formats representing diverse points of view.

CURRENT TOPICS & TITLES—ADULT DEPARTMENT

Objective #1 Circulation of library materials to teens will increase by 5% each year.

Objective #2 Circulation of library materials to adults will increase by 5% each year.

CURRENT TOPICS & TITLES—CHILDREN’S DEPARTMENT

Objective #1 The library’s New Philadelphia location will provide at least two popular titles or series programs for preschoolers and two popular titles or series programs for elementary aged children each year.

Objective #2 The circulation of juvenile audiovisual materials at the New Philadelphia location will increase 2% each year for five years.

Objective #3 The circulation of juvenile print materials at the New Philadelphia location will increase 2% each year for five years.

Objective #3 Within one year, the library’s website will include reader’s advisory links related to juvenile materials.

Objective #4 Within five years, the library will have a plan for the New Philadelphia location’s juvenile department to have a more “bookstore-friendly” and trendy atmosphere with space for all current formats.

Objective #5 Each year the staff at the New Philadelphia’s juvenile location will create at least four displays related to current and popular titles.

Objective #6 Each year the New Philadelphia’s juvenile location will create a quarterly handout (ex: bookmarks, pathfinders and bibliographies related to current titles, authors and/or trends) and masters will be distributed to all locations.

Objective #7 Within two years, the library’s New Philadelphia location will establish a tweens (ages 9-12) advisory board.

CURRENT TOPICS & TITLES—EXTENSION

Objective #1 Within one year, branch library users will respond in a survey that at least 75% of the time the format/title that they requested was made available to them. Within five years, branch library users will respond in a survey that at least 90% of the time the format/title that they requested was made available to them.

Objective # 2 Within one year, branch library users will respond in a survey that 90% of the time they received materials placed on hold within seven working days. Within five years, branch library users will respond in a survey that 95% of the time they received materials placed on hold within seven working days.

Objective # 3 Within two years, the two branches with the highest number of delivery bags per stop will have daily courier service.

Objective # 4 Within two years, the audiovisual budget for library branches and bookmobile will increase to 25% of their total materials budget.

Objective # 5 Within two years, the Tuscarawas branch library will be enlarged to provide a storytelling/meeting room and shelving space for additional collections.

Objective # 6 Within five years, the Sugarcreek branch library will relocate to a facility that will provide a storytelling/meeting room and shelving space for additional collections.
