The Tuscarawas County Public Library announces that it has an immediate vacancy on its Board of Trustees due to the unexpired term of its Strasburg representative. This vacancy is one of four Board positions (out of seven) appointed by the Tuscarawas County Commissioners. The term for this board position will expire 5/31/2018. Applicants must be residents of the Tuscarawas County Public Library District in Tuscarawas County and live in the Strasburg area.
The Tuscarawas County Public Library consists of mobile services and five facilities located in New Philadelphia, Bolivar, Strasburg, Sugarcreek, and Tuscarawas. The Board of Trustees includes representatives from each of these communities. In 2016, the Tuscarawas County Public Library System had 354,308 visits to its facilities, circulated more than 1 million library materials, answered nearly 35,000 reference questions, had more than 101,000 uses of a computer or Wi-Fi network, and had more than 45,000 people attend a program or educational class.
The Board meets on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Main Library in New Philadelphia and Board members are asked to attend at least 75 percent of the meetings.
