Hold Delays

Over the next few months, you may experience slower-than-normal wait times on holds for items outside our library locations. We understand that this can be frustrating, but know that we are working to minimize the impact on our customers.

Ohio supports a service that enables public and academic libraries to share their library materials, providing library users wider access to resources. Following Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) guidelines, Ohio’s statewide delivery service went through a competitive bid process that culminated in the delivery contract being awarded to a new library delivery service provider in July 2021.

After making every effort to successfully establish that delivery network, the Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS), the State Library of Ohio, and OhioLINK have come to an agreement that it is necessary to again change delivery service providers to bring statewide delivery of library materials to expected levels of service.

The transition in delivery services will begin in March, and, if all goes according to plan, hold times will be back to normal by the end of May 2022. We appreciate your continued patience while the State Library works to restore this service. In the meantime, the Tuscarawas County Public Library System has established a partnership with four of the neighboring library systems that share our catalog. This partnership will make the materials held at our five Tuscarawas County Public Library locations, the Claymont Public Library, the Coshocton Public Library, the Gnadenhutten Public Library, and the Newcomerstown Public Library available to fill your holds during this time. You won't need to do anything differently - simply place your holds as you normally would.
