For those who may be looking for tax-deductible year-end giving opportunities or a meaningful way to recognize a loved one, the Tuscarawas County Public Library System has options to consider.
“Giving Tuesday is a time of year when people are often looking to give in small or large ways,” said Director Michelle McMorrow Ramsell. “Among the many worthy causes in our community, the Tuscarawas County Public Library System offers opportunities to recognize a loved one by name.”
For as little as a $25 donation to the Library’s Bestow a Book program, the Library will purchase and add a book to its collection in recognition or memory of a favorite teacher, friend, or family member. Donors may specify a particular subject of interest and the TCPL location where they would like the book to be added. Bestow a Book requests for nonfiction or large print books require a $35 donation.
“A name plate is placed in the front of the book to recognize the individual, and the Library sends a letter to the individual or the individual’s family to let them know of the gift,” said Ramsell.
Another giving opportunity that allows for an individual, a couple, or a family to be recognized by name is a contribution to the Tuscarawas County Public Library Foundation. A donation as little as $250 receives a personalized open book that is placed on the Library’s Foundation Donor Wall. Donor Wall gift amounts are as follows: Bronze Book - $250, Silver Book - $500, Gold Book - $1,000+.
Ramsell said the foundation donor wall is made up of bronze, silver, and gold open books surrounding a quote by Helen Hayes that says: ‘When books are opened, we discover that we have wings.’
The Foundation was created in 2019 as a way to receive donations that can be invested and allowed to grow, ensuring a permanent source of income for future Library system programs and services. Donations made to the Tuscarawas County Public Library or the Tuscarawas County Library Foundation are 100% tax-deductible. Donations will be acknowledged with a letter for tax purposes.
