The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will launch a system-wide elementary-aged reading challenge this September. The challenge will run September 21st through March 27th.
“The reading challenge for elementary students is called Hooked on Books,” says Director Michelle McMorrow Ramsell. “Kids who participate have an opportunity to take a deep dive into 30 activities that encourage reading and learning.”
Ramsell said students complete and log activities using the Library’s free Beanstack Reading Tracker, which is accessible free through the web or an app. For those who prefer paper, trackers are available to pick up at any TCPL library.
Students can begin logging activities as early as September 21st and have until March 27th to log 30 activities and complete the challenge. The challenge features a gift for registering, as well as incentive prizes upon completing 10, 15, 25, and 30 activities. Prize incentives are picked up at any TCPL location.
“Students earn prizes like mood pencils, temporary tattoos, candy sharks, and keychains,” says Public Relations Associate Megan Kovalaske-Grimm. “Students who complete 30 activities will be eligible to attend a food party at their school or TCPL library.”
