Two area residents were named the winners of the Tuscarawas County Public Library System’s Bookmark Art Contest held in the summer. The contest asked community members to submit artwork that showcased how libraries “Color Our World.”
“We were amazed at the talent of all the contestants,” said Public Relations Associate Megan Kovalask-Grimm. “Everyone’s interpretation of our theme was impressive and beautiful. It was exciting to see the entries being submitted.”
Entries were judged by local artist John Wallace, Library Friends’ member Candy Beaber, and Library staff member Max Mead. Contest winners are:
1st Place, Kelly Levesque of Bolivar, with her piece titled “The Library Can Color Our World with Healing.”
Runner-up, Jasmine Montanez of Sugarcreek, with her piece titled “Seeds of Knowledge.”
The winning artwork will be printed on limited edition bookmarks and be available to pick up, while supplies last at each of the County Library’s locations in New Philadelphia, Bolivar, Strasburg, Sugarcreek, and Tuscarawas. Copies will also be available at Mobile Service community stops.
All entries may be picked up through October 8th at the Main Library (121 Fair Ave. NW, New Philadelphia). The library is not responsible for entries left at the Library after October 8th.
