New Manga Book Club Begins In January 2026

The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will offer a new book club to its 2026 book club offerings for adults. The Manga Book Club meets the third Friday of the month at the Pilot Brewhouse in New Philadelphia.

In Japanese, “manga” refers to all kinds of cartooning, comics, and animations. Among English speakers, “manga” refers to Japanese comic books and graphic novels while “anime” refers to Japanese animated films and television shows, often adaptations of popular manga series.

“Ever since I started working at the Library, I have wanted to start an Adult Manga Book Club,” said Public Service Associate Maeggie Dotts. “With the increasing interest in our Adult Anime Club, now seems like the perfect opportunity to launch this adult book club.”

The Tuscarawas County Public Library offers an array of book clubs for different interests that provide the opportunity for people with shared interests to come together.

Dotts, who has always loved reading manga, said book club participants are invited to bring their most current manga read and talk it up with the group. The first meeting of the Manga Book Club meeting is Friday, January 16th at 5:30PM. The Pilot Brewhouse is located at located at 1690 E High Ave in New Philadelphia.

Registration for 2026 programs begin on Wednesday, January 14th at 10AM. To register for the Manga Book Club or other programs, call the Main Library at 330-364-4474 or sign up online at tusclibrary.org.
