The Library Is My Happy Place Photo Contest

Community members are invited to showcase their photography skills as part of the Tuscarawas County Public Library System’s 125th anniversary celebration by entering The Library Photography Contest.

“The theme for the photography contest is The Library is My Happy Place and encourages photographers to show their creativity in showcasing how the library impacts the community,” said Public Relations Associate Megan Kovalaske-Grimm.

The contest is open to youth and adult photographers, as well as professional photographers. Winners will be awarded in the following five categories: Grades K-4, Grades 5-8, Grades 9-12, Adults 18+, and Professional. Entries will be accepted September 21st through October 10th

Photographs must be original and created solely by the photographer. Each photographer can submit up to three original entries. Photographs must be printed and acceptable sizes are 4 x 6, 5 x 7, and 8 x 10. Artificial intelligence-generated photography is not permitted. Entries using copyrighted or protected artwork are also prohibited. Photographs found to include AI-generated or non-original content will be disqualified. 

All entries must be received by 5:00 PM on October 10th. Entries can be turned in at any Tuscarawas County Public Library System location: Main Library in New Philadelphia, Bolivar, Strasburg, Sugarcreek, and Tusky. Entries sent through the mail or placed in the bookdrop will not be accepted. 

Photographs will be on display in the Main Library’s Lower Galleries during the month of November. Winners will be selected by a three-person panel including a professional artist, library staff member, and community member. Winners will be announced at an awards reception during the Library’s 125th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, November 14th at 11:00 AM.
