The Tuscarawas County Public Library System is offering a variety of genealogy and family history classes to unearth your local and family history.
“This summer we have a variety of programs to offer, including a Genealogy Websites Class, our regular Book-a-Genealogist programs to help unearth personal family trees and records, and a program in July discussing the popular and free FamilySearch.org website,” says Gina Merrill, Public Service Associate.
The programs include:
- Book a Genealogist. Main Library. Let our genealogy specialist help you discover your family history. Book a 90-minute session on select dates: June 11th, July 2nd, July 15th, and July 29th from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Preservation Station. Main Library. Thursday, June 18th at 10:00 AM OR Wednesday, July 22nd at 6:00 PM. Join us to gain a basic understanding of the Preservation Station and how it can help you preserve your memories.
- Sharon Moravian Cemetery Walk. Sharon Moravian Cemetery (4776 Moravian Church Rd. SE, New Philadelphia). Saturday, June 20th at 10:30 AM. Join us on a walk guided by Kim Jurkovic of the Tuscarawas County Historical Society. We will visit the final resting places of and learn stories about some interesting people from our county’s past.
- Genealogy Websites for Beginners. Main Library. Monday, June 29th at 6:00 PM. Learn about basic websites to help you get started with family history research.
- Using Family Search for Genealogy Research. Bolivar Branch. Monday, July 27th at 6:00 PM. Dig into your family history using Family Search. Learn tips and tricks to help navigate the website with genealogist Deb Kitko.
These programs are free to attend, but registration is required.
