The Tuscarawas County Public Library System has partnered with TUFF Bags to provide meals for preschool-high school ages children this summer. TUFF Bags will be distributed in the Main Library’s parking lot (121 Fair Ave NW, New Philadelphia) every Thursday from June 8th through August 10th from 2:30-3:30 PM.
TUFF Bags, or Tuscarawas United Feeding our Future, works to eliminate food insecurity for Tuscarawas County children. According to TUFF Bags, the program is working to eradicate childhood hunger in our community, as well as provide education, skill building, and community service for at-risk youth in the juvenile justice system. This is accomplished by providing at-risk youth community service hours in which they pack food that is delivered directly to food-insecure children in Tuscarawas County. The food these children receive through TUFF Bags not only nourishes their bodies but helps them reach their full academic and social potential by eliminating the worry of going hungry when not at school. The Library is one of several distribution sites for TUFF Bags this summer.
Families with children in preschool-high school are encouraged to call 330-401-3283 or email Walker@co.tuscarawas.oh.us to enroll their child in the Summer Meal Program.
